This is an in-person class covering the theory, equipment and applications of infrared thermography in the preventive maintenance, quality assurance, condition monitoring, building envelope and nondestructive testing of materials fields. This online course focuses on qualitative thermography and how to collect data and follow proven and published inspection procedures. Upon completion students will be able to capture clear thermograms and make basic inferences and diagnosis. Level 1 material includes infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, operation of thermal imaging equipment and specific recommendations on how to make quality thermal images that are clear, concise and easy to interpret.

This course meets the educational requirements for the Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A certification, as defined by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing.
Students are required to take the General Exam to complete the course. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take a three-part certification examination. Including the production of a sample report where each attendee must demonstrate proficiency with his/her infrared camera. The 40-question General Exam will evaluate your general knowledge in infrared theory and all the mainstream applications.
The Specific Exam will be based on either your written procedures or on accepted ASTM, ISO, NFPA, NETA, IEEE, OSHA, EPRI, and BINDT methodologies.
